2nd half kickoff to #EcocityGoingZero… come give it a shot!

It’s halftime for the Ecocity 30-Day Zero Waste Challenge and what better way to mark the occasion than with a challenge that is near and dear to the ECOCITY cause: Walk, bike, or take public transit.

If you haven’t already, today is as fun and easy as any to get in on the action: Hop on a bus, a bike, or a sidewalk, take a snapshot of anything noteworthy about your excursion, and share it on Instagram (#EcocityGoingZero) or on Facebook (tag us @EcocityBuilders).

The next few days should also be really interesting as we’ll be delving into fundamental arenas of our human existence that are also key elements of the urban metabolism and circular economy: water and food.

As the first half of the challenge comes to a close, we’d like to acknowledge all of you who’ve posted and given feedback, both on- and offline. To demonstrate that you don’t have to be on social media to make your actions count (though we do encourage you to do so!), we’d like to share this photo taken by our challenge co-creator Debra Baida whose conversation about #EcocityGoingZero with her friend’s college-bound daughter led to the beginnings of a blueprint for an “eco-dorm.”

So if you haven’t already, jump on in and give it a shot. It’s nourishing, full of surprises, and not too late to join in. For some more food for thought, check out these samples of some of the most recent postings:

See you all out there in the zero waste, or rather, optimal flow space!
